Slightly New-Look Website

Regular readers of this site may have noticed that the appearance has changed. A couple of weeks ago, the site began crashing. At first I blamed myself for meddling too much with its appearance and statistics, but it turned out the problem wasn’t my fault. The theme used for the site had become outdated and incompatible with new updates to WordPress. I would have to transfer the site to a new theme.

One of the. anthologies in which I appeared recently.

At that point, I considered migrating from WordPress to Substack, where all the cool kids are these days. But Substack is text-heavy, and I like having the flexibility of highlighting pictures of my LEGO city and other creations. The current site also contains extensive information about me as an author and all my books and translations. And it’s easy to update when a new book comes out or an older one receives a distinction or award. In fact, I’m planning to add a page next year for all the anthologies where I have a contribution, as two more are forthcoming and I need to pulling my weight as a contributor.

I consider the new-look site as a work in progress. I’m in the process of resizing some of the photos to make them look better on mobile devices. And I need a new logo, because the LEGO-adjacent one I’ve had for the past 12 years doesn’t quite match the more muted style of the new theme.

The good news is that the new theme is easier to search, and one can do it by month and year. And there are more links to other posts, so if, say, you’re looking at photos of Little Brick Township, as my LEGO town is called, you can click on blog posts about the original buildings I’ve created, or the stories I’ve imagined with the LEGO sets I’ve built, like this and this.

I hope you enjoy the new look, and please let me know if you see anything weird that I need to fix. And stay tuned for the new logo. Maybe you should start a betting pool as to when I’ll get around to making it. It might turn out to be one of my notorious New Year’s resolutions!
